Introduction to Andean Cosmovision
The Andean Cosmovision is not a theory. It is a living, breathing consciousness — a way of seeing, being, and relating that is woven into every stone, plant, mountain, and river of the Andes. To the Q’ero people, the cosmos is not silent nor abstract — it is animated, aware, and deeply relational. Everything is alive (kawsay). Everything is spirit (sami). Everything is part of a sacred whole.
To enter the Andean Cosmovision is to reawaken your ability to feel the sacred presence in all things. It is to move beyond separation, hierarchy, and domination, and instead step into ayni — sacred reciprocity. This is a world where mountains are elders (Apus), stars are guides, and the Earth (Pachamama) is a mother who listens.
This introduction will gently open the door into this ancestral way of knowing. We will begin to map the spiritual geography of the Andean universe: the three worlds of the Chakana (Hanan Pacha, Kay Pacha, Ukhu Pacha); the role of the sacred directions; the elemental forces of fire, water, air and earth; and the deep connections with the sun, moon, stars, and sacred animals.
